IAEA Courses in Turkey
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) keeps organizing national training courses for customs and other special services on combating illicit trafficking of nuclear materials. This time the course was held in Ankara (Turkey). On November 3-7 radiation monitoring equipment producers – Target (Germany), Exploranium (Canada), Polimaster (Byelorussia) and Aspect (Russia) – took part in the workshop. D.Dan'ko (State Customs Commitee, Russia) and Prof. Klaus Duftschmidt (Austria) acted as independent experts.
There were held theoretical instructions and practical training with radiation monitoring equipment for 30 local experts. SPC Aspect products were demonstrated by Aleksandr Pugachev, the Head of Spectrometric Equipment Development Department. He told about Aspect activities in this field (radiation monitors "Yantar" and MKC-A03) and made a presentation of "Customs controlling complex" that has been installed at different vehicle control points, large airports and seaports in RF.
