PURPOSE
Analysis, storage, processing, and display of information on amplitude distribution of pulses from ionizing radiation detectors and other detectors and sensors.
A multichannel analyzer may operate in several modes, including amplitude analysis, voltage level selection, and multichannel scaling. It sorts and stores pulses from detected gamma quanta (alpha/beta particles) arriving from the principal amplifier to construct a numerical and visual representation of the pulse-height spectrum measured by the detector.
USES
Analyzers lie at the heart of modern gamma, alpha, and beta spectrometers. As part of spectrometers, analyzers are used in automated systems for control of technological processes in radiochemical industry, nuclear physics, and nuclear power industry, for environment protection purposes and for radiation control of products, in medicine, agriculture, food industry, civil engineering, etc. In addition, analyzers find extensive application in various fields of science and technology where nuclear-physics methods of analysis are used or amplitude distributions of random or periodical processes should be measured.
