Yuri Konstantinovich Nedachin was born on July 13, 1945 in Smolensk region to a family of hereditary teachers. With honours he graduated from a high school there and entered Smolensk branch of Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI), automatics and telecommunications department. After graduation from the institute in April 1969 Yuri Konstantinovich began his career at Dubna Machine Engineering Plant as a design engineer.
From 1971 to 1976 he worked for the welfare of Komsomol, having risen from an All-Union Young Communist League assistant secretary at Dubna Machine Engineering Plant to the first secretary of All-Union Young Communist League Committee in Dubna. During these years he developed his organizational skills, displayed his managerial qualities, such as responsibility for the entrusted tasks and ability to solve the issues systematically and effectively.
In 1976-1991 Yuri Nedachin worked for the instrumental plant “TENZOR”, where he rose from the assistant machine-shop manager to the assistant production director. He greatly contributed to the outstanding engineering achievements of the plant, skillfully organizing its working and production process.
Perestroika made Yuri look for a new application of his knowledge, executive talent and energy. As a result of the active search for new opportunities with the assistance of JINR administration a new enterprise, Scientific Production Center “Aspect”, appeared at the initiative of Yuri Nedachin in 1991. Since August 1991 Yuri had been its permanent leader and general director. Within a short time he managed to establish a modern enterprise with an efficient team, which presently occupies the leading position in the field of development and manufacture of up-to-date radiation monitoring equipment. Under his leadership and guidance the company made a significant contribution to the global security system. Aspect equipment is installed and operated in 30 countries of the world.
In 2000 Yuri Nedachin became a winner of the Russian government prize in the field of science and technology.
Yuri’s deep professional knowledge, diligence, good sense of purpose and motivation combined with an extreme care shown to his personnel ensured sustainable development, stable financial position and decent life of SPC “Aspect” employees.
In 2008 Yuri Nedachin undertook the post of general director of SPA “Atom”, established on the basis of JINR Experimental Workshop. Owing to his efforts, in a single year the company has changed significantly – machinery was renewed, enterprise structure reorganized and the team, able to solve complicated issues, formed.
Yuri Nedachin can be noted for his insistency on high standards and self-discipline, adherence to principles, persistence in solving various tasks. His knowledge, broad- and open-mindedness, vitality, generosity, devotion to his duty made him respected and recognized among scientists, manufacturers and colleagues not only in Russia, but far abroad.
Died on October 21, 2009.
