Scintillation neutron detector was developed and passed the test at CJSC SPC ASPECT to replace traditional detectors with He-3 counters due to the high increasing deficit of this gas in the world.
Detector consists of neutron moderator, scintillation sheet made of ZnS(Ag)/6LiF crystals dispersed in the optically transparent environment, light-guide system and signal processor.
Detector design and the signal processing method allow to obtain the same efficiency, as for the system with detectors on the basis of He-3 counters, to fission neutrons and gamma discrimination within the high (up to 100 mcSv/h) range of doze rate.
Several models of scintillation neutron detectors were developed for the use in “Yantar” systems with overall dimensions and electrical connection as was designed for the He-3 based modules.
At present the developed method of neutron registration (patent application No. 2012104383/28 from 09.02.2012) is under expert examination at Federal Agency of Intellectual Property. |
